December Cultural events in Matosinhos

December is traditionally the most magical month of the year and the favourite of many people. The streets are filled with lights, the shops are full of people and Christmas music fills every space. Unfortunately, this year everything is different. The pandemic context in which we live forces us to have a different Christmas, with fewer people present and without the usual races for those present..

However, despite the necessary adaptations, the Christmas spirit is still present and there are several events that will take place in Matosinhos in December. Here are our suggestions:

FAMA

The Matosinhos Handicraft Fair FAMA takes place biannually in Jardim Basílio Teles. The start-up took place on November 27, but you can visit it until December 23 and withdraw to purchase some gifts for your family and friends. Handicrafts are an economic activity with high tourist interest and were particularly affected this year when artisans had practically no craft fairs to sell their products. Thus, we advise you to visit Fama – Matosinhos Handicraft Fair.

December 11 – Live Broadcast of Ensemble Vocal Pro Musica and Atlantic Orchestra

The Municipality of Matosinhos chose not to let the Christmas season pass by and organized a symphonic choral concert broadcast live on its Facebook page on December 11, at 9:30 pm.

The Ensemble Vocal Pro Musica is about to celebrate 30 years of history and consists of 100 active elements, dedicated to the interpretation of symphonic choral works, sacred and profane music, in the chapel or with piano accompaniment. Be present from your home!

December 18 – LIVE STREAM with My Cousin Rocks

While it is not time to fill the bars with live music again, Mary Spot Vintage Bar has chosen to keep the usual musical program, but adapt it to the time in which we live. On December 18th, My Cousin Rocks fill the stage online through Facebook, singing Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Ornatos Violeta, Arctic Monkeys or Lenny Kravitz.
